Sumeg Fort , a set on Flickr.
Sumeg is a cute village in the Balaton Highlands. The Sumeg Fortress is the biggest and best preserved remains in the area and is built from rocks rising 87m. The Fortress first appears in documents in 1318 and has seen many battles during its lifetime. We loved exploring the little rooms, passageways and lookouts. There were some neat things to do like write with a quill pen that was then stamped with a wax seal. Corban did a really good job of writing her name. It was a very relaxed place with a pony just walking around inside the wall, torture table to play on, and stilts to use. It took us several hours to go through the fortress before finishing the day with a swim at the lake. Leo isn’t keen on swimming in the lake, but he did get in and have some fun eventually.
