Prague Floods, a set on Flickr.
It’s raining, it’s pouring ... Well after surviving the longest winter in 40 years, we are now experiencing flooding. These are some of the photos we took yesterday and today. On Sunday we walked down to school which is located across the road from the river. You can see from the photos that the water was still on the other side, but we could physically see it creeping up! By early Monday morning the water had crossed the road and was about the school driveway. School was closed today and will remain shut tomorrow. At this stage only the basement of the Junior High is flooded. The Vltava River is flowing fast and high! Prague was well and truly organised and ready with the metro stations be locked down yesterday and flood gates being erected all over the city by the army, especially Old Town. There is also a photo of the La Terressa restaurant which we had a friends 50th Birthday at last weekend which is now under water and tipping over. The Vltava river runs right through Prague and our apartment is located about 1km ... up hill!
