Learning to Ride

Corban has done well learning to ride her bike with no training wheels.  She isn't really very keen on biking, she can do it but prefers to use roller blades!  This week at school she was practicing weaving between cones on her roller blades and doing really well, not fast but steady.    Maybe this Friday we'll get a video of her doing this.

The Rich & The Poor

Since moving to Prague we have certainly been exposed to many new things, one of which is the 'rich' and the 'poor'.  Allan took this photo of one of the parents cars at Corban's school.  It's an MP4-12C McLaren (seriously who drives one of these for the school run :+).
Wealth at Riverside School is extreme!  For example a teenager from Taylors school is bringing in two bands from Switzerland to play at his Birthday party, plus hiring the largest night club in Prague to have the party in!  We have certainly been blessed from the wealthy ... Leo has just been given basically enough clothes for the next year or so of his life ... in nothing less than Armani Junior.  I couldn't help myself, I checked the cost of the long sleeved polo shirts (104 euro each!!), he was given 12 plus good shirts, pants, pyjama's, raincoat, socks ... Alongside this we were looking for a balance bike for his Birthday, someone just gave us one! (basically looks brand new!!)  We are sooo grateful, I love hand me downs even when they aren't this flash!
On the other hand we often see the homeless and beggars, sometimes it is very heart breaking.  Allan left his old bag sitting by the rubbish bin, well not long after he saw it put to good use, so funny but we actually saw this guy about a week later and the bag is still going strong!

We decided to take a day trip in the car (we don't drive our car very often, in fact we have only just put in our first tank of petrol since Christmas!).  A couple of weeks ago we visited the Macocha Abyss (a bit like Waitomo Caves).  We spent the day both underground and above!  Our tour was in Czech ... so we missed some of the interesting facts, but still enjoyed the experience.  The caves are fantastic, the highlight was walking out from the caves and into the bottom of the Abyss, it was breath taking.  We also took a cable car up the mountain side and looked down into the Abyss from above.  Going through the caves in a boat was also spectacular, certainly not for anyone who is claustrophobic!

The Tutanchamon Exhibition is in Prague, so we went along.  All of the artefacts are amazing and it was awesome that they had headsets in English, so we could actually learn some really cool stuff.  The kids headsets were even in a child friendly version.  The Egyptians were truly incredible with detail and design, it is mind boggling how craftsman without the technology we have today could create such magnificent statues, thrones, tomb pieces, jewellery ... Fantastic exhibition!!   10/10
