End of School Year, a set on Flickr.
We have reached the end of our first school year in the Czech Republic! It was pretty busy with the flood adding some extra drama. The Primary School is full on, we have a Summer Fair, Activity Week and soaring temperatures (38 degrees). During Activity Week my team took 51 Year 3 & 4 students to a traditional Czech puppet theatre, the kids got to make the own marionette puppet (they were awesome). We also went on a 3 day camp (in a 4 star hotel!), horse riding, aqua park in a lake, hiking, mini golf, castle (built into stone, looked like Narnia) and high ropes. It was a really fun week. Corban had a Circus week at school and the Senior High did stuff all year so they just wound down. Both the girls had excellent school reports ... I can’t believe the first school year is over!!

Leo's Birthday, a set on Flickr.
June is the Birthday month in the Stock house! We began with Allan, followed by Taylor and lastly Leo. Allan decided on an eggs Benedict breakfast with bacon brought from a special shop (Czech bacon is just not the same) and dinner out. Taylor went for waffles, banana and bacon breakfast followed by a day of shopping for a bikini and a pasta bacon dinner! (Special bacon again x2 meals!). Leo opted for the Dino Park and his little friends Junia and Rosie came over for afternoon tea and cake. All round a successful Birthday month. Thank you Nana & Granddad, Granddad & Terri and Nanny & Mia for everyone’s cards, gifts, money. Taylor and Leo loved opening parcels received in the post!

Sunny Saturday

Sunny Saturday, a set on Flickr.
What do you do on a beautiful sunny Saturday? We decided to visit the castle which we haven’t done since we first moved to Prague 10 months ago. The castle is only a 15 minute walk from our house and although we are often near or passing we don’t stop in. The great thing about walking in Prague is all the crazy streets, architecture, statues, gardens and amazing views. Corban and I had fun today posing as statues and picking flowers. I took a few close up photos of some statues. Some of them totally freak me out! Around the castle there are a number of giant statues of people fighting/killing with clubs and knives or people slaying dragons. I don’t mind the dragons but there are also these gargoyles everywhere (kind of creepy, but totally amazing at the same time). There are heaps of really awesome statues as well, along the Charles Bridge there are several of Saints. Locals and tourist line up to touch some of them for good luck, it’s not my thing ... but I love watching them, I find it fascinating how emotional/sentimental they get. We didn’t walk across the Charles Bridge today we cross this quite a bit, it is certainly one of my favourite places. A couple of weekends ago when I was crossing the bridge with the kids the sun was shining, there were artists, music every few steps, people dancing, laughing, food and an amazing atmosphere ... it took us a long time to cross the bridge when there is so much to see and do :+)
