Took the kids to the park during siesta. We were the only ones there and I guess they have siesta for a reason! It's just to hot to play, although Corban and Leo were thankful for the water!

Diada Castellera
Diada Castellera, a set on Flickr.
It has been an enjoyable 4 days so far in Spain. We have gone to the beach everyday for swimming and playing in the sand. It is currently the Les Santes Festival which lasts for 10 day. Today we got to see the Diada Castellera (human castle). There were several competing teams which all enter the town square with music and a moving group with 3 or 4 people high. Next each team competes to build the human castle with the little kids climbing to the top to stand. After siesta we will go to the children’s part of the festival, should be a bit of fun. Still getting our heads around siesta ... everyone disappears from the streets, the shops close and then life begins again at about 4.30pm-5pm. Totally different lifestyle here in Spain!

We have arrived in Spain!
We have arrived in Spain!, a set on Flickr.
After only being at our home away from home in Prague for one day ... we were off to Spain. As you can see we were well prepared for the trip with Corban helping to make quiche, bacon 'n' egg pie, wraps and snacks before we left. We met our home exchange family at the Prague airport and exchanged keys before hitting the road for 17 hours!! The kids did AMAZING on the journey, we arrived in Mataro at 4am for an early breakfast and then back to bed ... expect Leo and Allan who started their day. Our first day in Spain has been a very quite one. First a photo on the street outside our new home for the next 12 days, a walk through the shops (which are all closed between 2 - 4.30pm for siesta), a late lunch at a beach café, and a swim at the beach down the road before heading home when a lightning storm struck. We have only been in Spain for 1 day, but already love being back by the ocean and hot weather :+)

Austria, Vienna
Austria, Vienna , a set on Flickr.
On our way home from Hungary we stopped for the day in Vienna, Austria. We arrived a little later, and then got a bit lost so spent less time there than we had hoped for but still managed to get in the Schonbrunn Palace Gardens and Historic Centre (Imperial Palace, Government building, St Peters Church and St Charles Church). We didn’t do a tour of Vienna so it was more about what we could see and read from trip advisor. It is another beautiful city ... with more horses and carriages than cars in the Historic Centre. We have one day at home before driving down to Barcelona ... we are all looking forward to our next holiday by the Mediterranean Ocean!
