Island of Chateau D'If, a set on Flickr.
A trip into Marseille today and then a ferry ride out to the Island of Chateau D’If and the Island of Le Friout. From the ferry there was a fantastic view of the city and lovely sea breeze. The Island of D’If was a fortress used to protect the main trade ports in France later becoming a prison. It was neat looking through all the rooms and from all the view points. This Island was where the legend of the Man in the Iron Mask began and also the story of the 3 Musketeers (pretty cool¬). The second Island mainly had ruins and small beaches to swim at. We walked the length of the Island and had a couple of swims before heading back on the ferry. Another hot day, but great fun.
