Staying in Mataro has been an awesome experience. Spain is a crazy place with a very relaxed way of life. The shops open late, close for about 3-4 hours in the afternoon and open for a few hours in the evening, it took a little bit to get used to not being able to do much between 1pm-5pm. We were lucky enough to stay in Mataro during the Les Santes Festival (10 days long). Everyday something different was happening. There were at least two parades per day, costumes, music, dancing, giants, horses, fireworks, human castles, family activities, bells ringing ... more fireworks. Every event was accompanied by different types of music, heaps of drums, flutes and trumpet things. Leo especially liked the dragons and bulls that shot fireworks. Each character had its own type of drum beat and the dancing giant saints were pretty cool. We also loved walking through all the interesting little streets to the beach each day for a swim. Our stay in Spain was definitely a highlight for everyone!

Allan didn't quite expect the bull to run for him!
