Marseille is the second largest city in France, about a 25 minute drive from where we are staying. We began with a walk around the old Port and a ferry trip back across. Next we stopped and brought some famous bread and biscuits from a 200 year old bakery (http://www.fourdesnavettes.com/fr/). They use traditional methods for cooking; own their own recipes with special ingredients like orange blossom flowers. Well the bread and biscuits were not quite what we were expecting but they were certainly different and smelt really good. We also visited the Cathedral (Basilique de Notre Dame de la Garde) which is located on top of a hill with great views of Marseille. This Cathedral seemed more modern than most of the ones we have been to with heaps of mosaic tiles and more colour. Lastly we went to a palace water fountain thing, unfortunately we saw the most magnificent fountains in Budapest so it didn’t seem all that wonderful. We were going to stop at the Marseille beach on the way home, but Leo was the only one keen the rest of us were tired and opting for a swim in the pool.
